Maybe it was George Hamilton’s initials that led KFC to cook up its latest marketing stunt.
The ultra-tanned actor, who began playing the chicken chain’s Extra Crispy Colonel in 2016, is appearing in Friday’s episode of “General Hospital” on ABC. Friday just so happens to be National Fried Chicken Day.
KFC began tweeting about General Hospital last month, positioning itself as a fan.
Hamilton is one of several celebrities to appear in the Wieden & Kennedy campaign. A new round of spotsfeaturing the actor began airing in April. In June, Hamilton, as his colonel character, was the guest speaker for graduates of the Art Institute of Portland.

If the romance-novel-meets-fast-food genre sounds familiar, that’s because KFC printed its own novella in May 2017.
