Walmart revvs up famous cars to promote grocery pickup service

They may not be driving, but Batman, Clark Griswold, Marty McFly and Michael Knight are a few of the characters that would be very happy with Walmart’s latest ad promoting its grocery pickup service.

The national campaign by Publicis Groupe’s Walmart-dedicated agency, Department W, has pulled a bunch of famous cars out of the garage to pick up groceries, and the result is both magical and nostalgic. In the 90-second version, we see the Batmobile, the Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Knight Rider’s KITT and Lightning McQueen from Cars racing through the streets. Then, the Mutts Cutts furry dog van from Dumb and Dumber bursts through the Walmart parking lot and screeches to a halt to pick up groceries. From there, the Griswold family wagon from Vacation drives off, unveiling the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo.

Other vehicles in the Walmart pickup spot include the SUV from Jurassic Park, Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage, the Flintstones car, Bumblebee from Transformers and the Delorean from Back to the Future. At the end, the tag states, “Order groceries online. Pick up for free. No matter what you drive.”
