BBDO takes viewers back to the 70s in a pair of new ads for Dunkin’ (the brand formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts), promoting the chain’s “Go 2s” value menu.
“Duet” features a cheesy ballad sung by a Sonny and Cher-esque couple. As the song goes on the lyrics turn from romance to Dukin’s “Go 2s” menu items. Whatever you think of the approach, you have to appreciate the flute-chimes duel instrument backing the duo.
“Buddy Cops” features police partners attempting to slide across way too many cars.
The goofy era parody is in line with the type of humor BBDO has employed with other recent ads for the brand. Back in November, the agency mocked the branded apparel trend in a series of spots introducing “Espresso-wear” like Cappu-chinos and the Latte-nk Top.
“Duet” made its broadcast debut during the Golden Globes on Sunday night and “Buddy Cops” will appear on broadcast at a later date. The integrated campaign will also run online and across the brand’s social channels.
